Untamed Wisdom Meditation TT

Untamed Wisdom Meditation Teacher Training:
Journey into wonder, wisdom and the wild!

We’re about to embark on a journey of transformation that will immerse you in a wild and wonderful awakening experience.

Are you ready to feel more ALIVE? To find more balance and clarity in your life? It’s time to discover the ancient, intuitive wisdom that stirs deep inside you.

Michele Vinbury, and a group of all-star guest teachers, will be your expert guides on a journey of mindfulness and self-healing where you will discover greater purpose and fulfilment in your life.

You’ll learn to tap into the elements, connect with the natural world and live from a truth that resides deep inside of you.

Taking this training was one of the best decisions of my life.
— Paola Aguirre Watkins

This Experience is for YOU if you are looking for a transformative way of connecting with life more deeply. Through this adventure you will:

  • Cultivate balance & inner peace in your life,

  • Experience transformational healing,

  • Unleash your creativity, authenticity & intuition,

  • Connect with a sisterhood of supportive, Untamed, wild hearts!

The Framework:

Michele first created this small group meditation training in 2019 in order to invite students home to their untamed true nature. On a broad scale, it supports three layers of inquiry and healing: 1. self, 2. society and 3. nature.

Woven together, these layers of practice will inspire healing, wonder, and likely, experiences of the loving Source energy found at the heart of meditation.

  • Monthly One-on-one sessions: Private mentorship meetings serve to address personal healing and integration. Sessions with Michele range from Reiki healing to somatic therapy to co-meditations and sound healing explorations. These are unique to each student’s needs. Together we’ll explore self and co-regulation.

  • Monthly Classroom Session and weekly zoom sessions: Practices and discussions in community to bring healing to us as social animals. On this level, we endeavor to create healthy connections and co-regulate with each other. We will spend time in rhythm and cycle, circle and flow learning about meditative states, nervous system regulation and the history of violent supremacy acted out by our culture over the last 10,000+ years. As we experience and learn to teach powerful meditation practices, we will heal in connection and also begin to disrupt the hierarchical systems of oppression that hold us all back. We’ll be able to also explore co-regulation and social engagement in these sessions.

  • Get Outside: We will spend time in nature to help heal our wounds of separation from the natural world. It is imperative that we cultivate and nurture our relationship with the living, breathing world that is all around us. This layer is woven throughout the training, and is highlighted during the silent retreat weekend and the nighttime bicycle ride. Friends, we’ll be deep in ecological engagement and co-regulating with our stone and plant family.

Learn to trust your magic

The Untamed Wisdom teacher training experience is designed to take you more deeply into your personal practice so that you can teach from a place of embodied knowing. You will learn to teach a trauma sensitive, sacred somatic style using an elemental framework (earth, water, fire, air, ether). Special attention will be paid (primarily, though not solely, through the lens of eco-feminism,) to unseating systems of oppression.

YOU CAN TAKE THIS TRAINING AS A DEEP DIVE INTO MEDITATION - EVEN IF YOU’RE NEVER PLANNING TO TEACH!!

These considerations will lay the foundation for teaching the following specific meditations:

  • Yoga Nidra meditation

  • Sacred Mandala of Support meditation (metta, benefactor and inner sanctuary)

  • Guided imagery to include goddess, chakra and moon meditations

  • Silent Seated meditation

  • 1:1 Partner co-mediation

The best training!! This particular training is not only how I learned to teach meditation. It’s where I truly connected with myself and learned how to listen to the land.
— Angela Bompiani

You don’t have to do it alone!

How would it feel to be deeply supported by your practices, community and mentor?

We have a framework to anchor you in your truth and surround you with support.

How it will happen…

  • 1x per month training weekend.

  • Monthly private meeting with Michele. These might be simply to talk or might be a co-mediation session, reiki healing or somatic therapy session. Each meeting will be personalized to meet the specifics of your journey.

  • Weekly 1hr zoom meditation. To teach meditation you need a personal practice! We will meet once a week to meditate together. This will help your practice deepen and grow.

  • A weekend outdoor silent retreat camping experience (this will be rustic, getting you into the wild and into your instincts).

  • An evening bicycle ride with an outdoor yoga practice in Granville.

  • Detailed training manual.

  • 10-15+ meditation scripts.

  • Expert instruction.

Somatic Experiencing Privates

Somatic Experiencing Privates

Learn to listen to your body in ways that will deepen your intuition and cultivate a sense of support, comfort, groundedness and safety.

What is Somatics?  Somatics comes from the Greek root soma which means “the living organism in its wholeness.”  This is the best word we have for the wholeness of what we are – the integration of mind, body, spirit.

Because of the world we live in, most of us will need to do some healing and restoration within ourselves before we can live our most aligned and authentic purposes.  We start this process by beginning to feel our body – to listen a little at first, and then more deeply to the messages it is sharing with us.  This is different than what most of us have been talk (i.e. that we need to change our minds to change our lives.  Or talk about and figure out our issues.  These are top-down approaches.)  I’m not interested in dominating my body, I want to be in relationship with it!  Once we begin to speak our body’s language we can send messages to our tissues and cells and nervous system that we’re okay. (Bottom up approach).

Our instinctual body and our rational mind see the world differently.  It is important to note that there is a difference in how our rational mind receives and perceives threats and how our instinctual body receives and perceives threats.  It’s also important to note that they remember threats differently too.

Explicit Memory – what the mind remembers.
Implicit Memory – what the body remembers.

In order to fully heal, we need to access both types of memory.  Often, we navigate our traumas by trying to retrain our minds or to spend a lot of time talking about them, trying to figure them out.  This can absolutely be an important aspect of healing.  Also though, we need to address the ability of our bodies to feel safe – this will not happen simply because we tell it to “feel safe body!” or because we’ve talked about how to feel safe.  This is because our rational mind is not in control of our nervous system.  We need to speak in the language of the body to communicate safety.  And we need to be patient as the body learns what it’s like to be able to feel a sense of safety.

Learning the language of the body – sensation words!!

EMBER Trauma Informed Intro Weekend

INTRODUCTION TO TEACHING TRAUMA INFORMED YOGA

This training offers teachers an opportunity to explore the concepts and methods that underlie trauma informed yoga while experiencing parts of the EMBER™ yoga curriculum.

It is intended for yoga teachers, meditation instructors, and practitioners with relevant professional experience who are interested in taking the first learning step toward bringing embodied, mindfulness-based tools of proven effectiveness to address the effects of trauma.

EMBER (Embodied, Mindfulness-based Emotional Resilience) is an evidence based twelve-week resilience program geared toward folx who are rebuilding their lives after trauma. In this workshop, EMBER founder Michele Vinbury will draw on her long experience of working with and teaching traumatized populations to discuss the psychology of trauma, the workings of our nervous system and the principles of trauma-informed yoga. Additionally, she will offer a brief introduction to the curriculum, which has been implemented in prisons, hospitals, and organizations responding to substance abuse, domestic violence, human trafficking and eating disorders.

Throughout the weekend you will:

  • Receive instruction in how to teach specific asana, pranayama and meditation practices in ways that aid the healing journey for those of us who have experienced trauma.

  • Practice a few poly-vagal exercises intended to strengthen and regulate your nervous system (and those of your students!)

  • Learn relevant aspects of brain anatomy and function to shed light on how yoga can facilitate the integration of traumatic experiences for more healthful everyday functioning in the world.

  • Explore the dynamics of creating “safer space” for practice while teaching in yoga studios and also in institutional settings.

  • Experience one EMBER trauma sensitive class and receive the full teaching script for that class.

  • Leave with a 100+ page manual to support your learning and integration of the materials.

Untamed Breathwork - Fall Release

Join Michele for this powerful, active breath practice. This is a high energy, intense, releasing kriya.

Class will begin with an orientation to the practice and time to create a comfortable reclined set-up. Formal pranayama practice will be 20-30 minutes of active breathwork accompanied by Michele’s verbal guidance and a specially curated playlist.

  • This practice is not recommended for students who have asthma, are at all sick or congested, or are brand new to pranayama.

  • If you’re looking for a practice with definite energetic impact and possibilities for transformation, this will likely be your jam.

  • If you tend toward anxiety and/or dissociation, please check-in with Michele before attending this class. She wants to make sure this is an appropriate practice for you right now and that you have lots of grounding tools to assist you through your journey if together, you decide this is a good practice for you.

Important to consider: If you are uncomfortable with breathing in a room with other mammals right now, this is not a good choice for you as we will be practicing with forceful exhalations through our mouths.

EMBER Trauma Sensitive Series

EMBER Trauma Sensitive Series

EMBER YOGA IS A PATHWAY TO RESILIENCE THAT IS BACKED BY CURRENT RESEARCH AND THAT IS ACCESSIBLE, ENGAGING, AND EMPOWERING.

What a year+ it's been for all of us! Whether you're looking to process a specific life trauma or integrate from the collective trauma of the past year, this series offers a gentle and supportive space to heal.

Through gentle trauma-sensitive yoga, breath practices, meditation and journaling, EMBER (Embodied, Mindfulness-Based, Emotional Resilience) lays the groundwork for learning healthy coping techniques while encouraging self acceptance and building community support.

At its core, EMBER’s aim is simple: to provide tools to help people feel at home and at ease in their bodies. During the 6-week series, the curriculum develops the foundations of resilience: the capacity to bounce back from difficulty by teaching students how to draw on inner reserves of calm, clarity, compassion, and courage.

EMBER classes are accessible, engaging, and empowering

How eMBER classes may be different than other classes on our schedule...

  • The teacher, Michele Vinbury, has many years experience and specialized training in trauma sensitive yoga practices.

  • The classes are designed to be predictable, and you will be told what's coming from the very beginning.

  • This class is for folx who identify as female.

  • As a rule, there will be no physical hands-on adjustments.

  • Attention will be paid to the types of props used and of the potential for feelings of vulnerability in certain yoga postures.

  • The teacher will continually offer options, allowing students to practice making empowered choices, opting in or out of any portion of the class at any time.

  • There will be take home materials to practice and explore what you've learned throughout the intervening weeks.

Have questions? Learn more here (link emberyoga.org) or feel free to reach out.

“Yoga allows survivors to regain a sense of comfort and ease within their own shape, to process nonverbally feelings that transcend language, and to experientially cultivate gratitude towards the body, which serve as a reminder of one’s resilience (Boeder, 2012).”

Because strong emotions may arise and be released during and after a somatic practice like yoga, we suggest that students have access to a psychologist, psychiatrist, or other mental health professional while on their healing journey.
